May 7, 2010 - It’s the American dream to own a home of your own. But what if the bank wrongfully foreclosed on your home and you were forced out and left with nothing?

Unfortunately, home foreclosures have become all too common and a popular trend in today’s spiraling economy. However, there is good news for homeowners: home foreclosures can be prevented with the right help.

A wrongful foreclosure is a legally improper foreclosure on a borrower (homeowner). If you have been a victim of a wrongful foreclosure, then you know just how hard it is too battle the banks alone and in most cases it’s the borrowers who are left in debt and turmoil.

Bernadette Bodziak, a resident of East Cobb, Georgia, knows this fact all too well. According to a story in The Marietta Daily Journal, Bodziak is just one among more than 13,000 Cobb County property owners who received foreclosure notices in 2009.

After receiving a letter from Wells Fargo that her home was in jeopardy of foreclosure, she called the lender and agreed to a repayment plan that included an upfront payment of about $1,000 per month due until September 2010.

Bodziak’s November payment was returned with a letter from Wells Fargo stating: "Enclosed are the following negotiable items which are being returned as the funds do not represent the total amount due to reinstate the account. As of this date, there are no written arrangements agreeing to accept the enclosed funds."

Bodziak, who is still fighting her case in court, is just one of many Americans who are faced with the nightmare of a foreclosure.

According to the National Real Estate Trends, 1 in every 351 homes received a foreclosure filing in March 2010.
